Text: My great grandmother was Emily Ladbury (1875-1961). Emily was orphaned at age 9 when both her parents died in 1884. They were living somewhere near Stepney in London's East End at the time. In 1891 she is living with an aunt and uncle back in Rochester where she learned to be a dress maker. She married George Cox in the parish church of St Margaret in Rochester in 1899 and lived in Chatham till 1911 at least but probably much longer. George and Emily's only child emigrated to Australia in 1926 and George and Emily followed in 1938. I have a few vague memories of George and Emily from my early childhood
