Text: Graham - just wanted to let you know that Marian passed away last Wednesday 12th Sept. The family were called in the previous Wed evening as staff thought she may have suffered a heart attack - later there were suggestions it may have been a blood clot. Anyway there were other issues and they were told she would not pull through this time. Someone from the family sat with her 24 hours for a week - she was lucid most of the time but gradually became weaker and passed very peacefully .
Leslie, her children Laurie and Kim, and Norris arranged a very fitting funeral for her in the chapel of the retirement village on Saturday morning. Several residents and staff attended as at 81 she was the longest staying resident (21 years) and because of her bright personality she was very well liked and known to many as "Happy Chappy" a term she often used to describe herself.
They had her taken to Napier, and the family went down and she was interred with Henk at midday yesterday 17th Sept.
